    GOOD FORTUNE GRAND SCALE

    $305 - $380 Celebrating our 10th anniversary, I really wanted to make a “wow” design. I had been painting a series of herons and initially thought it would just be a heron and wildlife design. Everything I came up with seemed to be falling flat, and I wanted the pattern to pack more punch.... Inspired by dragons in fashion, I started looking up the meaning of Chinese symbols. Good Fortune took on many symbols for prosperity, luck, health and wealth. A dragon holding a pearl, a heron, butterflies, a praying mantis, a red lantern and the money plant are all harbingers of Good Fortune.     WARFIELD

    $275 - $360 Warfield comes straight off the canvas of Alex’s paintings. During her travels in New Zealand she became what might be described as “obsessed” with berries. The wonderful thing about Warfield is that it can play as either masculine or feminine. With its vines reaching upward and branching out, the pattern has an almost architectural quality to it. Depending on the colorway, this pattern can have a whimsical quality, as in the blue, or more sophisticated as in the lavender. Warfield is perfect for draperies, wall upholstery, or a simple punch as a pillow.     Shelby is our version of Chinoiserie birds and foliage. This design comes directly from a painting I did inspired by J. Audubon. The background of the original painting was too difficult to put into repeat so I created a strié/faux bois background that was featured in the three designs of this collection, Alex, Fiddle Leaf Fig, and Shelby. I really think it is the texture of the strié that makes this bird and foliage design come together. Even though the scale of the repeat is quite large it has a very soft, delicate feel. -Alex Available in Blush Green Red, or Rain

    CALLIANDRA

    $295 - $380 Calliandra is where it all began. During Alex’s time living in New Zealand she became acquainted, and soon fell in love, with the indigenous plant life. Calliandra was born of that love for the exotic florals, while still relating to the bursts of Bizzy Bloom and other patterns. The gentle arc of the stems move the pattern up and across the fabric while the burst of the blossoms create an exciting splash. Depending on the color, the pattern can be subtle and feminine or robust and vibrant. Calliandra is perfect for almost any room in the house. It was hard to limit the colorways with this one. Because of the ambiguousness of the design I named it after myself. Alex could work within a feminine, masculine or neutral scheme. The design itself could be a strié or a faux bois – and I love a faux bois. Bring on the Alex!     FIDDLE LEAF FIG

    $265 - $340 This tropical houseplant seems to be having its moment now. I thought of the design magazines and all of the photos of homes where you see a Fiddle Leaf Fig – why not have a fabric to go along with the plant? I love that the leaves are life size on this fabric, and you can see the brush strokes of the original artwork. The faux bois background represents the stems or trunk of the tree that is not shown in the design. It seems to be a combination that works great. Fiddle Leaf Fig has been in hot demand for the press.     VICTORIAN MOD

    $265 - $340 Inspired by Hydrangea blossoms, Victorian Mod has a very springy feel and started out as a wild abstract painting. Then someone mentioned to me that I should make fabrics like my abstract paintings. It is never easy to put something abstract into repeat but this design just happened to have the right curse of the stem to be a perfect sinuous half drop. Once I saw it in repeat I fell in love and thought of the Victorian wallpapers with the same undulating curve. The large scale of the repeat lets you see all of the abstract details of the dots and brush strokes of the original painting.     ZEN GARDEN

    $265 - $340 Zen Garden was inspired from swirl marks I started using as backgrounds in paintings. Originally I wanted to have a colored ribbon flowing through the swirls but the ribbon kept looking too boxy, so I took it out. I love the large scale of these swirls and the texture that the two screens of the hand silk screened design creates.     LOUIS STRIPE

    $285-$380 Named after my French citizen nephew, Louis Stripe is created out of a simple line of hatched brush strokes that I repeated over and over, then colored in a gradation to create an ombre stripe. I love this tiny texture stripe that looks like it could have been woven. It is printed on a heavier linen perfect for upholstery. I could see sofas and chairs covered in Louis Stripe.
