Trained at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, fine artist Alex Mason created each of Ferrick Mason’s popular patterns and colorways by drawing straight from her work in the painting studio, and incorporating the instinct for color and love of naturally-inspired, organic forms that informs her canvases. The result is a fabric line that is both delicate and bold, youthful and classic, of-the-minute and rendered by hand, with graphic, abstract repeats and references to the sinuous flora and fauna that inspire Alex’s art.

Alex’s partnership with Brian Ferrick, whose long experience in the world of textiles ensures that the company has always been grounded in best practices and a deep understanding of the marketplace, represents a merging of East Coast and Southern sensibilities, as well as a shared obsession with quality and an eye for the current.
Ferrick and Mason have expanded their printing methods since the line’s launch to include hand silk screening and digital printing, which has enabled them to better capture the transitions and gradations in Alex’s ink and gouache artworks.

Every design created by Ferrick Mason is rooted in the natural world. Owner and Creative Director Alex K. Mason, says “flora, fauna, and color fuel my work.” She finds her inspiration in nature’s patterns and reinterprets them for textiles, wallpapers, and fine art. Artistically guided by nature, Ferrick Mason is dedicated to keeping an eye on caring for the planet. We are concerned with sourcing sustainable materials, using environmentally kind production methods, and limiting waste whenever possible.

100% OF OUR CLAY COATED WALLPAPERS ARE Printed In House
Ferrick Mason offers 129 wallcovering designs. ALL collections are printed to order, which significantly reduces waste in addition to eliminating the need to expend energy through warehousing.
100% of our traditional clay-coated wallpaper is printed in-house at the Ferrick Mason showroom in Versailles, Kentucky. These wallpapers are produced on an eco-friendly digital printer using quality water-based inks and printed on paper which is responsibly sourced. 100% biodegradable, our wallpapers produce little waste.
The remaining wallcoverings are printed on Sisal Grasscloth and are produced off-site using digital printing methods. Sisal is a sustainable fast-growing, non-toxic, low allergen fiber that is woven and adhered to natural rice paper. Like our clay-coated wallpapers, the grasscloth designs are printed to order and are 100% biodegradable.

Natural Materials
Currently, Ferrick Mason is offering 110 fabric designs, and ALL are produced on natural materials.
Nearly 90% of our fabrics are printed on linen, which is produced from fast-growing flax that creates very little waste when processed. The remaining 10% is printed on natural cotton. Both fabrics are produced from sustainable plants, both are responsibly sourced, and both are 100% biodegradable.
Eco Friendly Digital Printing Technology
Eighty-five of Ferrick Mason’s current fabrics (77%) are printed using digital technology. While there are variables between specific types of digital printers, the process itself is far better for the environment than conventional printing. In addition to using non-toxic inks, digital printing produces less waste, creates fewer emissions, and requires less clean up overall.
Twenty-three of Ferrick Mason’s fabric designs (21%) are produced via silk screen. Traditional hand silk screening is artisan quality and is not mass produced. Our vendors use non-toxic materials. They are transparent about their methods and adhere to environmental regulations.
