Kinkead

The inspiration for Kinkead, as well as the entire 2019-20 collection, comes from a moth wing that I started painting while in the MFA program at Pratt Institute. By 2003, it had evolved into a plant form with a decorative scallop to make it look more like a blossom. For a few years, I wanted to revisit this form and create a fabric design around it. I had done a sketch last year which I used as a starting point for Kinkead. This year, I finished the design by adding the leaves and berries for rich floral details. I named it after my maiden name.
