Zen Garden

Zen Garden was inspired from swirl marks I started using as backgrounds in paintings. Originally I wanted to have a colored ribbon flowing through the swirls but the ribbon kept looking too boxy, so I took it out. I love the large scale of these swirls and the texture that the two screens of the hand silk screened design creates. It either reminds me of the ripples of water when you skip a stone or of the raked sand of zen gardens, hence the name, Zen Garden.
