Elizabeth

The pattern of Elizabeth was inspired from the resurgence of William Morris popularity. There are a lot of details in this pattern. The design is made up of many separate floral motifs that I painted in a large scale and brought together to create Elizabeth. It took a long time to get the repeat just right and at the last minute I added a meandering leaf and berry motif that acts as almost a lace to make the design cohesive. I have many wonderful Elizabeths in my life: my deceased grandmother, my sister and my deceased best friend whom this pattern is named after. She was special and died too young of breast cancer. I wanted her to have a special pattern named after her.
